Half of US adults now have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose - New York Post

Half of US adults have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Sunday.

Nearly 130 million people, or around 50.4 percent of the total adult population, have gotten at least one vaccine shot, the CDC said.

Meanwhile, almost 84 million adults — about 32.5 percent of the population — are fully vaccinated, the agency said.

There are currently two vaccines available — a two-dose shot made by Pfizer, another two-dose shot by Moderna — after federal regulators temporarily paused the use of a third, a single-dose jab by Johnson & Johnson, in response to reports of rare blood clots.

Federal officials have yet to determine whether the vaccine brought on the blood-clotting issues.

But Dr. Anthony Fauci said Sunday that he believes regulators will resume the use of shot sometime this week, possibly with restrictions or warning.

“I would be very surprised if we don’t have a resumption in some form by Friday,” he said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “I don’t really anticipate that they’re going to want it stretch it out a bit longer.”
