SHERIFF'S BLOTTER: Woman reports anti-virus computer scam - The Pioneer

MECOSTA COUNTY — Deputies with the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office responded to the following calls.

All calls may not be reported.

Wednesday, Dec. 1

• A traffic stop was performed for speeding near North State and Bellevue streets in Big Rapids Township. The stop resulted in the driver being issued an appearance ticket for no insurance.

• A domestic assault was reported in the 200 block of North Scott Street in Aetna Township. The assault occurred Nov. 30.

• A civil matter, involving a dispute over property, was reported in the 12000 block of 55th Avenue. 
 
• A civil matter was reported in the 11000 block of Tullymore Drive. A manager wanted it on file that an employee’s ex was calling and harassing staff. 

• A car vs. tree crash was reported near 50th Avenue and Pierce Road. The driver left the scene and was picked up by a parent.

• A two-vehicle property damage crash was reported on Perry Avenue near Venlo Drive in Big Rapids Township.  

• An attempted fraud was reported in the 7000 block of 50th Avenue in Wheatland Township. A woman believed someone from Norton anti-virus was helping her with her computer and realized it was a scam.

• A harassment complaint was reported in the 300 block of Norman Street in the village of Barryton. A woman called on another woman harassing her via social media. No threats were made.

• A traffic stop was performed near South Sheridan and Factory streets in Wheatland Township. The stop resulted in a driver being issued a no proof of insurance citation.
